Steve holds the Diploma in Financial Planning and is a member of the Personal Finance Society, The UK’s professional body for financial advisers. This represents his commitment to high standards in knowledge, professional development and ethical behaviour.

Steve deals with a broad range of client profile focusing on ‘Goal Based’ financial planning and is experienced in dealing with vulnerable individuals. Steve specialises in advice for elderly individuals and widows. Steve has additional qualifications in the provision of ‘Long Term Care’ planning and works with older clients, Attorneys and Deputies in this respect. He aims to be one of the first Financial Planners to hold the newly launchedSTEP Advanced Certificate in Advising Vulnerable Clients

He has many years’ experience in providing financial planning advice to individual clients and previously spent fifteen years of his career as a Manager within a large UK Insurer. Steve joined Wingate’s sister company WFS Consulting Ltd in 2003 as a Senior Financial Adviser dealing with both corporate and individual clients; Steve co-founded Wingate Financial Planning in March 2008 and elected to focus on purely fee-based planning for private individuals.

Steve lives in Maidstone, Kent with his wife, Karen, and they have three children. They both enjoy a number of sports and leisure activities. In particular, Steve is a keen sailor and races most Saturdays during April to October. Having competed in the Isle of Wight’s ‘Round the Island’ race Steve now has ambitions is to compete in the famous ‘Fastnet Race’, generally considered one of the classic offshore races.
